In 2012, in the period 13 – 15 June, Kavarna turned once again into the capital of heavy music and brought together stars and fans of rock and metal from Bulgaria and the world.

The headliners of Kavarna Rock Festival 2012 were classic emblematic bands, favorites of different generations. This edition of the festival was both a return to its original spirit and also a move towards an evolving quality experience for true fans including both an excellent musical selection and a rich parallel program of sports, exhibitions, activities, and attractive opportunities for relaxation and fun.

The headliners on the first day of Kavarna Rock 2012 were DIO Disciples – a supergroup formed to celebrate the work of one of the greatest vocalists ever – Ronnie James Dio. Members of the band included Judas Priest ex-vocalist Tim Ripper Owens and Toby Jepson of Little Angels. Later on, the stage was taken by legendary rock bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes whose name is associated with emblems of guitar music such as Trapeze, Deep Purple, Gary Moore, and Black Sabbath. The above were joined by the unforgettable Michael Schenker – founder of the Scorpions and inspiration for the numerous of fans of first-class guitar sound. His characteristic guitar playing style is a synonym of fine-quality hard rock.

The second festival evening offered to its fans three formations - Stryper, Dokken, and Big Noize feat.Sebastian Bach – all leaders in their respective genres.

Stryper are one of the iconic bands in the genre of Christian rock. Kavarna Rock 2012 welcomed also the veterans of US heavy metal Dokken – a band who created numerous hits, having tens of years of ongoing presence in the radio charts, holding 4 Grammy nominations, and having sold over 10 million copies of their albums worldwide. On Saturday, 14 July, the audience experienced the live performance of star formation Big Noize - closely related to giants such as Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, Black Sabbath, Quiet Riot, Rainbow, and Deep Purple. A special addition to the master performances was the appearance of one of the highly popular contemporary rock vocalists – Sebastian Bach. His name is associated with projects such as Skid Row, The Last Hard Men, Frameshift, Damnocracy, Guns N Roses, James LaBrie, Dokken, and Winter Rose.

The third evening of Kavarna Rock 2012 was devoted to extreme sound when the audience were swept by spectacular shows, heavy riffs, powerful vocals, and uncompromising rhythm. Headliners of the evening were Lizzy Borden who came to Bulgaria with their Appointment with Death Show. On Sunday the stage was given to Kamelot – one of the driving forces of US power metal for more than two decades. The band has already achieved a lot but always state that the best is yet to come.

Kavarna Rock 2012 swept its fans with the mighty metal symphony of Italians Rhapsody of Fire.
For the first time in the past 5 years, Kavarna Rock opened its stage to Bulgarian bands Komanda 5, D2 and Dicho, Ahat, and Renegade.
